New Dates Announced for Grant Proposal Writing Training

PhD student workshops: Structure and Style – The Narrative of Your Grant Proposal

Join these two interactive day workshops to learn about structure and style of narrative in your grant proposal to take it from telling to selling! Writing a grant proposal is more than just committing your unique, worthwhile and feasible idea to paper by filling in a grant proposal form. To get your proposal funded you need to anticipate how it will be received by a mixed panel of  reviewers, and adapt your writing to inform, convince and motivate the panel to vote for funding your proposal. During these workshops you will familiarize yourself with and intensely practise techniques for writing a powerful narrative.

These workshops are for 3rd / 4th year PhD students who wish to pursue a career in research (if you are a junior postdoc and just graduated, you can sign up too as long as you meet the requirements). To participate you must have previously written a research paper or book chapter. You must also have a rough idea about the research you would like to get funded. Ideally, you have participated in the workshops ‘Beginner’s guide to grant writing’ and ‘From idea to proposal / From chaos to focus, although this is not a requirement.

To be eligible for enrolment in the workshops you need to fill out the application form and submit the application assignment, which are detailed in this document. Application deadline is November 10, deadline for submission of your assignment November 19 at 5 pm. Mail both items to g.molema@umcg.nl.
