It brings us great pleasure to announce the two students sponsored by the internationalization program "Abel Tasman Talent Program" from the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of the UMCG have been given prestigious awards from the 2014 International Student Congress of (Bio)Medical Sciences (ISCOMS).
Our congratulations are extended to Roberto Brito of our partner Universidad de Chile and Adrián Murillo of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Both students had been selected by their home universities to receive a so-called "ISCOMS voucher". Roberto took the Plenary Award 1st Prize for his research on “Effects of high-dose vitamin C supplementation on antioxidants systems in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary angioplasty after acute myocardial infarction” and Adrián was the winner of the Poster Research Award with his exposition entitled “The kinase WNK1 is a Powerful Inhibition of the K+:Cl-Cotransporters”.
