Merck Ventures is the strategic, corporate venture arm of Merck KgaA, Darmstadt, Germany and invests globally in emerging biotechnology companies in the field of Healthcare, Life Sciences, Performance Materials and Digital Health. We currently have an opening for candidates with a PhD in (bio) pharmaceutical sciences/molecular biology/medicine, etc. with an interest to move to the business side of the pharmaceutical industry.

Ideally, students are in the final phase of their PhD and have an exceptional record from both their (pharmaceutical) sciences studies and preferably business courses and/or studies. The internship provides a unique opportunity for PhD students with a combined background and interest in (bio) pharmaceutical sciences and business to actively participate in and support the day-to-day operations of a venture capital fund and the business development organization of a large pharmaceutical/biotech company. In addition, the specific role allows the student to establish a good understanding of the international investor community in the life sciences field.

We have twelve 6-month positions annually and are recruiting the whole year round. You’ll be stationed in the Merck Ventures headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
